Therapy hits hard

Therapy hits hard

It may not have gone unnoticed but I have not been doing much on this site in the past few weeks and I was on the verge of scrapping the Shrinkingman. I started therapy after the new year and although I believed I was under no illusions how difficult it would be to bear my soul it has proven harder than I could have imagined. The healthy eating has gone out of the window during these first six sessions of therapy. It…

Great start to 2018

Great start to 2018

Having ended 2017 with my first gain I was a little down in the dumps. It may only have been a two pound gain and of course, it did cover the Christmas holiday period but it still felt a bad way to sign off the year. I had several days of binging over the festivities and it was always in the back of my mind that the old demons were returning with force. However, I entered the new year in a…

Waving goodbye to a traumatic year

Waving goodbye to a traumatic year

Today marks twenty weeks since I began to lose weight and it was the first weigh in over this time period that I have gained. It may have only been a two pound gain but it proves I can not afford to become complacent. Having given up chocolates and diet fizzy drinks for five months I went a bit crazy for Christmas and Boxing Day. My wife was understandably concerned by the sudden change in my eating routine but she…

100 days into health regime

100 days into health regime

Feeling very pleased with myself for completing the first 100 days of my new lifestyle. When I think about how I was feeling both physically and mentally just over 14 weeks ago, the change has been tremendous. Three months ago I was virtually unable to walk around without two large bariatric crutches and even standing up was incredibly painful as my huge stomach pulled me forwards. Now having lost over 5 and a half stone I am now able to move…

Week 14 Weigh in success

Week 14 Weigh in success

Up bright and early at 5 this morning as I was looking forward to this week’s weigh-in and I was not disappointed.  Another six pounds bites the dust. It puts you in such a good mood when you see all your hard work paying off. After a month of a weekly loss of a pound or two, it is such a thrill to follow up last week’s three pound loss with six this week. I had a feeling it had been…

Over five stone lost in 13 weeks

Over five stone lost in 13 weeks

This morning my weigh-in revealed a 3-pound loss which makes a total of 5 stone 1 pound dropped in 13 weeks. That’s 71 pounds lost at a rate of just under 5 and a half pound a week. The weight loss has not been without its difficulties. I have fallen over several times, both indoors and outdoors but it is becoming more comfortable to get around. The worst fall of all was in the bath when I was trying to…

Week 11 Weigh In

Week 11 Weigh In

Only a single pound lost this week. I have reached something of a plateau, averaging a pound loss per week over the last few weeks. This is not totally unexpected as when I started I set myself a target of getting under the 30 stone target by Christmas Day. Having smashed this target I need to set myself another target to chase down. My target will be to go from my current weight of 29 stone 8 pounds (414 lb) down…

Week 5 Weigh in

Week 5 Weigh in

Legs and back so achy this morning it’s all I can do to get myself out of bed. Bending down to get the weighing scales from under my bedroom chest of drawers is agony. At least the bathroom is free! I can feel my heart racing as I step onto the scales, which annoyingly take an age to stop flickering through various weights until finally, they settle on 31 stone 4 pounds. Is that it? After all the exercising, hard graft…

Trapped in the bath

Trapped in the bath

And it was all going so well. I have not been able to take a bath for years. I have had to content myself with a quick shower but even that is difficult as it hurts to stand for more than a few minutes. So I thought today I would literally take the plunge. Having filled the bathtub up to about a quarter full and added the most luxurious bubbles to hand, I carefully climbed into the bath and gingerly lowered…

An embarrasing entry

An embarrasing entry

Not a pleasant subject but I want to truthfully record what I am going through on this weight transformation.  I am having to wear an incontinence pad due to all the chemicals coming out of my body. I had to change the pad and three pairs of underpants during the night due to the amount of water I am drinking. It’s a strange feeling but I can feel the harmful chemicals that my body has been struggling to process leaving…
